For now, however, Romanians can enjoy this drop in prices, which has already lasted for several days. It is difficult to anticipate the further evolution, especially since the oil market remains vulnerable to any kind of events, whether of an economic or geopolitical nature.

This morning, for example, the prices of the two oil benchmarks showed a slight increase on the background of information on, on the one hand, the depletion of strategic US crude stocks and, on the other hand, the increase in demand for black gold from China. But even in these cases, the market players chose only what suited them.

Because if US oil stocks, the world’s biggest user of black gold, fell last week by 1.4 million barrels to reach 459.5 million barrels, those of fuels – see gasoline, diesel and derivatives – increased, but for investors this did not matter.

As for China, oil imports rose in April to 44.72 million metric tons, or about 10.88 million barrels per day, a 5.45 percent jump from March’s level. This boosted the price of crude oil, but its rise was curbed by hopes of a ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Between good and less good news, here are the prices for gasoline and diesel offered today, May 9, by gas stations in Bucharest, according to peco-online.
