Andrei Tinu, the candidate supported by AUR for the City Hall of Sector 2, announced on Thursday that he is withdrawing from the electoral race. Equally, the Republican Party in Romania previously announced that it no longer supports the son of former journalist Dumitru Tinu.

Andrei Tinu leaves the electoral competition

Andrei Tinu, the AUR candidate for the Sector 2 City Hall, announced on Thursday that he is leaving the electoral competition where he had to face Rareș Hopincă (PSD) and the current mayor Radu Mihaiu (USR).

“I have decided to withdraw from the race for the position of mayor of Sector 2. It is a common approach with that of my republican colleagues on the AUR lists for local councils in Bucharest. Why only now? Because today the candidacies are final and no Republican colleague has secured an eligible post”stated Andrei Tinu, according to G4Media.

And the PRR withdrew its support

For his part, the president of the Republican Party in Romania, Marian Cucșa, announced, also on Thursday, the withdrawal of support for Andrei Tinu. “There is nothing I hate more in the world than betrayal, lies and hypocrisy. Unfortunately, many of those who betray easily or indulge in hidden deals that only serve their own interests are people you support and support. Just as many of those who betray easily, in the most important moments, forget the big words and the promises made”Cucșa wrote on his Facebook account.

“His lack of loyalty to the republican project”

According to Cucșa, they existed “signals” regarding the lack of “loyalty” of Andrei Tinu. “It is also the case of Andrei Tinu, the one whom the Republican Party supported to be the candidate for the District 2 City Hall. Although the signals we received regarding him in recent weeks indicated his lack of loyalty to the Republican project and a return to the pesedist ‘mother’, I chose to trust him going forward, relying on the promises he made”writes Cucșa.

“Suspicions of PSD table”

Suspicions, continues the president of the Republican Party in Romania, have accumulated, especially, he says, regarding a “top” with PSD in Sector 2, and they were “confirmed”.

“However, the suspicions regarding Andrei Tinu have increased in recent days, especially those related to a table of his with the PSD for Sector 2. These suspicions were confirmed by the evidence we received from several parties”writes Marian Cucșa.

In the end, Cucșa points out, it was decided to withdraw Andrei Tinu’s candidacy for the District 2 City Hall, with the Republican Party of Romania supporting the AUR list at the City Council.

“Exactly for this reason, even if the Republican Party will no longer have a candidate for the City Hall of Sector 2, but with the desire not to be tainted by accusations of colluding with the PSD, we decided to withdraw the candidacy of Andrei Tinu for the position of mayor and to support AUR list for the Local Council of Sector 2.

At the same time, I want it to be very clear that neither Andrei Tinu nor those who chose to betray the Republican Party with him no longer have membership status, nor will they have anything to look for in the party.”states Marian Cucșa.
