The prices of natural gas and electricity bills decreased in April compared to the maximum capped prices, according to the Ministry of Energy.

The prices of natural gas bills fell in April by 25%, and those of electricity by 15% compared to the maximum capped prices, according to the Ministry of Energy.

“The first bills for April for gas and electricity were issued. Compared to the maximum price stipulated by the ceiling, the invoiced prices for natural gas are up to 25% lower. For example, the price charged by the main natural gas supplier for domestic consumers is 0.23381 lei/kWh (the maximum capped price is 0.310 lei/kWh)”, according to a press release.

According to the quoted source, for electricity, for domestic customers with a consumption higher than 300 kWh/month, the reductions applied by the main suppliers reach up to 15% compared to the maximum price of 1.3 lei/kWh.

“We promised lower electricity and natural gas bills. I remind you that on March 28 I publicly declared, after the Government meeting, that Romanians will receive lower energy bills. I firmly and well-groundedly supported it based on the analyzes we did and which we promoted by updating the compensation-ceiling mechanism (EOG 27/2022).

What was a certainty for me since the moment the new mechanism was promoted in the Government, is confirmed today by invoices. I have always argued: the state must intervene where necessary, when necessary and how necessary.

There is no need to overturn a whole system, but to calculate, analyze and apply head on. We continue to protect Romanians’ bills”, says Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Energy.
