We must not forget that we are in an election year, and Colterm promises that we will pay less for gigacalories in the future, in the context where Timișoara has a very high price compared to the whole country. The basis of this promise would be a cheaper contract with the gas supplier.

Colterm stopped supplying heating completely on April 29, after resuming it in the middle of last month. Previously, it had been stopped at the beginning of Prier, because temperatures in Timișoara even reached 30 degrees one afternoon. Otherwise, the local heating company continues to announce what fuel stocks it still has, and it’s not bad. Here is the situation regarding the coal, necessary for CET Sud: ”Coal in stock: 20,377 tons (compared to 6,684.51 tons at the end of April 2023), with an average consumption of thermal coal in April of approximately 222 tons/day. The total quantity purchased between June 2023 and April 2024 is 176,053 tons of coal, to which is added the stock of coal from the end of the previous heating season of 7,767 tons. In total, 183,820 tons of coal, of which 163,443 tons have been consumed so far”informs the special administrator Cristian Amza.

After the town hall paid the outstanding invoices to E.ON Gaz from the second mandate of Nicolae Robu, and Colterm has to pay this money to the town hall (so, the company itself did not escape the debt!), it was possible to negotiate a more advantageous on gas: “Gas: we have stored, at the present time, the amount of 36,308 MWh (compared to zero stock, in the similar period of last year), to which will be added the amount of 6,519 MWh – contracted for storage during May. And that’s not all. The good news is that our company managed to sign a contract with Romgaz for a cost almost 30% lower than the basic one (valid until the end of the year). Additionally, we have contracted, also from Romgaz, the quantity of 220,000 MWh, at a value of 27,277,851.44 lei, for the period 01.04.2024 – 31.12.2024, intended for consumption by the population. All this proves that, in recent years, Colterm has regained the trust of its market partners and that it is a serious player that pays its debts according to the agreements“, informs Amza.

Colterm promises to lower the price of the gigacalorie, which is voted by decision by the local council. It remains to be seen how much and when! “We therefore prepare, with responsibility, the new heating season. Successfully doing this basically means reducing production costs, which will generate a reduction in the price per gigacalorie and, over time, a reduction in costs for each individual consumer, according to the pricing methodology established by ANRE. Also, during the summer period, we are going to carry out a series of repairs to the installations intended for the production of thermal energy and to the networks, so that the next heating season starts and runs without major syncopes“, the special administrator also states.

Colterm has been insolvent since 2021.
