The 38-year-old man died on Sunday, May 5, after the van he was driving was hit by a passenger train on DN 14, in Sibiu County. The driver would not have respected the red color of the traffic light, forcing the passage over the railway.

The accident occurred on DN 14, at the railway crossing between the towns of Rusi and Şeica Mare.

“From the first investigations carried out, it emerged that, while driving a van from Mediaş towards Sibiu, a 38-year-old man from Alba county, alone in the car, would not have respected the meaning of the red color of the traffic light installed at the crossing , entered the railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaş. The vehicle was projected outside the carriageway”, informed IPJ Sibiu.

Three SMURD crews went there, one of them with a doctor, and the emergency doctor’s car.

According to ISU Sibiu, the 38-year-old man was in cardio-respiratory arrest and, despite the efforts made, did not respond to resuscitation maneuvers, the doctor declaring death.

The passengers on the train and the train driver, a 64-year-old man from Cluj county, were not injured.
