According to the Sibiu Police, the particularly serious accident occurred on DN 14, at the railway crossing between the towns of Ruşi and Şeica Mare.

From the first investigations, while driving a van from Mediaş towards Sibiu, a 38-year-old man from Alba county, alone in the car, did not respect the meaning of the red light at the crossing, entered the railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaş.

The vehicle was thrown off the roadway.

Unfortunately, the driver died as a result of the impact.

“The 38-year-old man was in cardio-respiratory arrest, unfortunately, despite the efforts made, he did not respond to resuscitation maneuvers, the doctor present at the scene declaring death”, says Raluca Marcu, spokesperson of ISU Sibiu .

The passengers on the train and the train driver, a 64-year-old man from Cluj county, did not suffer bodily injuries.

Traffic is difficult in the area.
