The patient with a vascular accident was transferred to Suceava by helicopter because they were unable to operate on him in Cluj. It was turned down by five other centers
The 47-year-old patient suffered an acute ischemic stroke. He was transferred today by a SMURD helicopter, from the Cluj County Emergency Hospital to the Suceava County Emergency Hospital. The reason for the transfer was that he could not be operated on here due to lack of doctors or the sutures required to extract the suture. The patient was refused by five other Interventional Radiology centers, for these reasons. It is the first time that such a request to the Suceava hospital comes from a university center. Practically the entire Cluj University Center was unable to find where to operate the patient and it was necessary for him to be transferred to Suceava.
“The patient’s symptoms started at 11.30 am. Thrombolysis (administration of drugs that dissolve the blood clot) was performed at 2 p.m. at the hospital in Cluj. Because there was no significant improvement in the symptoms, it was decided to transfer the patient to the Suceava County Clinical Hospital for the extraction of the blood clot from the level of the affected cerebral vessel by the Interventional Radiology team. It is the first request of this kind received from a university center”,
