The Suceava court rejected, on Friday evening, the candidacy of Neculai Miron for the position of president of the Suceava County Council from the AUR. The decision can be appealed to the Suceava Court of Appeal.
The court decided to uphold the decision of the BEJ Suceava which rejected Miron’s candidacy on the grounds that he is also running for the position of mayor of Bosanci commune.
AUR representatives contested this decision on the grounds that Romanian legislation does not allow candidacies for the same position in different constituencies and that it allows a person to run for a local council, a county council, a mayor position and a county council president position , giving as an example the 2020 candidacy of Bogdan Codreanu for the Pojorâta mayor’s office and for the position of president of the Suceava County Council.
The Suceava Court rejected AUR’s appeal against the Suceava BEJ decision.
“Rejects as unfounded the appeal against Decision no. 25/01.05.2024 issued by the electoral office of county constituency no. 35 Suceava. With a call within 24 hours of the pronouncement. The appeal is submitted to the Suceava Court of Appeal, under penalty of nullity. The decision, after becoming final, will be communicated to the electoral office of county constituency no. 35 Suceava, in order to finalize the applications. Pronounced by making the solution available to the parties through the court registry,” the court minutes state.
