After committing the fatal accident, the driver fled and barricaded himself in his own house, and when the police arrived, he refused to leave the house and talked with them from the balcony of the house.
“When the police asked him to accompany them, the man refused to leave his private property, as well as to allow the police access,” IPJ Suceava reported.
The driver surrendered seven hours after committing the accident, after being convinced by the lawyer representing him. The breathalyzer with which he was tested indicated a value of 0.71 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air.
A detention order was issued for the driver for 24 hours, and on Thursday, May 2, he was taken to the Suceava Court with a proposal for preventive arrest.
The man is charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
On the other hand, according to the local publication Monitorul de Suceava, relatives of the victim claim that there was a conflict between the killed man and the young driver, and the latter was allegedly hit. In order to take revenge, the 21-year-old would have gotten behind the wheel of his own car and intentionally hit the victim.
Now the investigators, who can take this option into account, must find out what the victim was looking for at 5 o’clock in the morning on the road from Frumoasa, given that the 25-year-old lived in the George Enescu neighborhood, in the municipality of Suceava.
Searches at the driver’s home
As soon as they obtained the search warrant, the police went, on Wednesday evening, to the home in Frumoasa of the driver of the car involved in the accident.
Law enforcement officers checked and recovered evidence from the car, which was badly damaged on the front left side, including an ax found inside. Also, several traces of blood were found in the house and in the yard.
