Nuno Espirito Santo has called on the Premier League to bring an end to the saga surrounding their profit and sustainability regulations breach – and make clear how many points they have in their fight against relegation.

Forest appealed against their four-point punishment for breaching PSR, which was handed out in March – and the appeal was heard last Wednesday.

The club had asked for a speedy resolution but, as they prepare to face already relegated Sheffield United on Saturday, they are yet to discover whether their appeal will be successful.

Forest currently sit on 26 points, one point ahead of Luton Town – who sit in the final relegation spot, ahead of their game against Everton tomorrow night.

“Unfortunately we haven’t heard yet. We are expecting, but not yet,” said head coach Nuno. “It is very difficult. We have been dealing with this situation for a while.

“We all expected the decision to come sooner so we know exactly how many points we have. Do we have 30, 29, 28, 27? We need it as fast as possible.

“To have 30 points would be fantastic – because this is the number of points that the boys achieved on the pitch.

“It’s a mess. It should have been decided before. They have had enough time. It is very difficult for us, but also for the rest of the league. It is very hard to be in this situation.”

Nuno said he felt some ‘vindication’ after PGMOL head Howard Webb admitted that referee Anthony Taylor and VAR Stuart Attwell had made an error in not awarding one of three penalty claims Forest had at Goodison Park, after Ashley Young had felled Callum Hudson-Odoi from behind, in the 2-0 defeat.

“I always try to be respectful, I try to understand how hard the work of the referee is, but this year is difficult. There are too many situations happening. I felt it was impossible to control the emotions and that’s why I’ve become so vocal,” said Nuno

“It is nice when you have an expert admitting that they were wrong, that what you said was right and what you saw was right. But it doesn’t give you back what happened.”

Forest are expected to face charges for their response, which saw the club release a strongly worded statement on X, with Nuno, defender Neco Williams and referee analyst Mark Clattenburg all asked to provide their observations over their comments in the aftermath of the game.

Willy Boly and Murillo will both be fit to face the Blades, while Taiwo Awoniyi has a chance of being involved, after returning to full training today. It is hoped that Williams will be fit enough to train tomorrow, but his situation will be monitored.
