A representative in the Local Electoral Bureau, Ilie Stredie, contested the list of local PNL councilors for Mihai Viteazu commune, on the grounds that it does not contain representatives of both sexes. According to the law: “Candidates for local councils and county councils, as well as those for mayors and presidents of county councils, are proposed by political parties or political alliances established according to the Political Parties Law. Candidates can also be submitted by electoral alliances established under the terms of this law, by organizations of citizens belonging to national minorities, as well as independent candidates. The lists of candidates for the election of local councils and county councils must be drawn up in such a way as to ensure the representation of both sexes, except for those that contain only one candidate.”

Adrian Costache: He didn’t even read the list of councilors, he made an appeal to be on the job

Contacted by the reporters from Replica de Constanța, the deputy mayor with mayor attributions from Mihai Viteazu, Adrian Costache, conveyed the fact that the member of the AUR party did not even read the list of local PNL councilors: “Ilie Stredie, the representative of the AUR party, did not even read the list of councilors, he made an appeal to be on the job, the appeal to the Court was cancelled. It was unfounded, so that they would also be at work, to have an activity. He is not a candidate, he is the representative of the AUR party in the Local Electoral Office. I suspect that it was put up by the representatives from above, he didn’t know how to make an appeal of this kind, it was put up by the party as far as I understand. He didn’t even check the list to see if there were any females. Of course it had to be because I knew I had this obligation. We have only one woman on the list of local councillors. I am running for the position of mayor of Mihai Viteazu commune on behalf of the National Liberal Party.

Appeal dismissed

The magistrates, analyzing the documents submitted to the case file, found that in the “List of candidates for the election of the Local Council of the Mihai Viteazu Municipality, from the Liberal National Party, received at the Electoral Office on April 24, 2024, accompanied by the related documentation, it is noted that a woman also appears as a candidate from the National Liberal Party at position 15 in this list. Thus, the court notes that the conditions for the submission of candidacies for the election of the local council of the Mihai Viteazu Municipality on behalf of the National Liberal Party for the elections of June 9, 2024 are met, the conditions with the subsequent amendments and additions being respected.
