The latest results in the case of the little girl and her grandmother who died after eating fish indicate that the food purchased from a store in the village of Călăraşi was infested with bacteria beyond normal limits.

The veterinary health department came up with new laboratory results, after a four-year-old girl and her 58-year-old grandmother died after eating fish in a village in Calarasi. The authorities took samples from the family’s refrigerator, two samples of frozen small fish and one of frozen mackerel.

The analyzes showed that all these three samples contained values above the acceptable limit of Enterobacteriaceae. That means bacteria like klebsiella or salmonella, which can cause serious illness if they end up in food.

DSV still has a few more lab tests to run, the results of which will most likely be available on Friday.

The Directorate of Public Health also got involved in this case and took samples, but until now, the institution has not provided any information regarding the results of the analyses.

The four-year-old girl and her 58-year-old grandmother died after arriving at the hospital with severe symptoms of food poisoning. The woman died of cardio-respiratory arrest when she learned that her niece had passed away. The girl’s grandfather is also in the hospital with symptoms of food poisoning, but his condition is stable.

According to the first results, the products were not contaminated with E-coli bacteria. In the following days, results are expected for listeria, salmonella, but also for staphylococcus.
