The AUR Satu Mare branch announced on Wednesday that it does not have its own candidate and will support the PNL candidate, Adrian Cozma, for the head of the County Council. AUR leader George Simion criticized PSD president Marcel Ciolacu’s endorsement of candidate Mircea Govor, whom he describes as the “UDMR baronet”.

“The AUR Satu Mare branch enters the local elections with a list of professional county councilors dedicated to the county. For the position of president of the Satu Mare County Council, I made the decision not to have my own candidate. It is very important that the vote of the Romanians is not divided and that we give all of us a chance to have a Romanian administration from 2024. The Romanians, in a proportion of over 60%, must go either united and change the current UDMR-ist leadership at the municipality level and especially at the county level“, according to a statement sent by the AUR Satu Mare Branch.
The leader of AUR, George Simion, stated that if the president of the social democrats, Marcel Ciolacu, chose to support the candidacy of the PSD Satu Mare president, Mircea Govor, for the head of the CJ, then he has “sacred duty to the ancestors“.
“If Marcel Ciolacu chose to support the baronet UDMR-Mircea Govor, I have a sacred duty to my predecessors and a logic of the campaign that cannot allow the UDMR to control all the counties of Transylvania so passionately!“, said George Simion, according to the county organization.
According to the quoted source, the members of the AUR Satu Mare branch will support the candidacy of the leader of the PNL county organization, deputy Adrian Cozma, for the presidency of the County Council.

We have the same beliefs, we are patriots and fighters for everything that means Romanian principles and values. We support the family, these places and especially the villagers. Adrian Cozma claimed, on Saturday, April 27, when submitting his candidacy, that PSD is in an agreement with UDMR.
“United we win. I submitted my candidacy for the presidency of the Satu Mare County Council. We start optimistically in a competition for the future of the county. On the one hand, we have a UDMR-PSD agreement, and on the other, an Alliance for Satu Mare. We are a big team, determined to change the county for the better“, stated Cozma, in a post on his Facebook page.
