Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced that the new law on the banning of peddlers is already producing effects. Those who do not move their devices urgently will lose their license, he threatens.

The announcement was made, on Tuesday, in the meeting of the Executive.

“The government has started the application of the new law on the prohibition of small shops in localities with less than 15,000 inhabitants.

All those who do not urgently move their machines remain without a license, according to an announcement already sent by the National Gaming Office”, said Prime Minister Ciolacu.

According to the law, operators who do not comply with the new rules will be fined between 10,000 and 200,000 lei.

Adopted on April 9, it is the first law regulating the snack food industry.

On April 17, President Klaus Iohannis promulgated the law that completes the GEO regarding the organization and exploitation of gambling, in the sense that casinos are prohibited in localities with a population of less than 15,000 inhabitants.

The Head of Government specified that new legal provisions are being worked on for the other 10% of localities that are not included in the law.

“We will not tolerate any delay, because we want to quickly clean up 90% of the country’s localities, and we will make the rules for the remaining 10% at this moment,” said the head of the Executive.
