“Through investments, we can have a fair price for energy in Romania, so that we can further develop the industry,” says the Minister of Economy, Radu Oprea.

The most efficient managers in the energy industry, top members of the Government and Parliament, experts in the field of renewable resources gathered today, in a summit organized by Antena3 CNN, on the RO 3.0 platform.

During the summit, the Minister of Economy, Radu Oprea, spoke about the strategies that the Government has for reindustrialization in terms of energy.

“From the perspective of the national energy system of producers, transporters, distributors, I represent the client. That is, the one that consumes energy, industry, the Romanian economy, but here the circle must be closed. We can only grow together, because producing without having someone to sell to and how to transport is nonsense.

And here, the strategies that the Government has must take into account the possibility of increasing the electricity demand in Romania, the way in which we will bring added value to the gases that we will extract from the Black Sea or from Caragele, which Transgazul will transport them to new production capacities in Romania. We are also talking about electricity.

From my point of view, the vision for Romania is correct, 2030, a clean energy mix, from water, gas, because it is in the transition period, it is clean energy, it is green energy, nuclear in Romania and in Europe is a green energy , renewable energies. Romania’s mix, compared to other countries, is a very good mix.

The fact that we have this possibility for all energy to be clean, I told it to a lot of investors, wherever I was present, whether in Berlin or in the United States, and in the Emirates or Qatar area.

Together with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, whenever we talk about Romania, we show that there is an opportunity, an opportunity that must be complemented with the other resources that Romania has. And here I am talking about the fact that, having an old oil and gas industry, with tradition, in 1857 the first oil refinery in the world was near Ploiesti, we also have the possibility of carbon storage, with a geology that is our friend. And I say this because it is again an opportunity for Romania compared to many other states around us.

Together with the possibility of having green energy in the future and producing hydrogen for Romania, we will become a unique area, from my point of view, from the European and if you want global perspective, so that all companies that have at the core of their vision the fact that the shareholders ask them to be green, they can be in Romania. It will be the best area to invest and be present with production capabilities.

Of course, it requires a very large investment effort. But I think we have to look at the whole. I, from the perspective of the Ministry of Economy, one of our big concerns is attracting investments with Romanian and foreign capital, especially in the area where we can bring added value to gas and energy in Romania”, says Radu Oprea.

“Through investments, we can have a fair price of energy in Romania, so that we can further develop the industry part. The second thing I look at as Minister of Economy is the fact that, when we talk about these very large investments, what is the industrial cooperation part, what is the technology transfer part, what is the part that we can produce in Romania. There are discussions regarding nuclear, where it is said that we could produce, for example, in the area of small reactors, up to 40% of what such a reactor means in Romania. If we look at the perspective of the fact that we are the only country that has nuclear energy based on western technology, while all the others have technology from the east, it will obviously be a huge potential for Romania.

There are things that the industry in this area, together with the Ministry of Economy, can do together with the Ministry of Energy, because we can and are already coming up with the state aid scheme for the manufacturing industry, so that we can give that necessary boost, with support from on the part of the Government of Romania, to develop new equipment that is so needed”, the Minister of Economy also said during the RO 3.0 summit “RESTART & REPOWER, ROMANIA – The new energy and development strategy”.
