The Romanian delegation at the European Rowing Championship in Szeged won the first three medals. Romanian rowers won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal. On Sunday, another 8 crews progress to the finals of the competition.
The silver medal went to the women’s four-frame crew (W4-), composed of Mădălina Bereș, Maria Lehaci, Magdalena Rusu and Amalia Bereș, in the first final with Romanian participation of the day.
This was followed by a gold medal for the lightweight women’s double rowing crew (LW2x), composed of Gianina van Groningen and Ionela Cozmiuc.
The bronze medal was then obtained by the men’s 8+1 crew (M8+), composed of Mihăiță Țigănescu, Ciprian Tudosă, Florin Arteni, Mugurel Semciuc, Constantin Adam, Sergiu Bejan, Ștefan Berariu, Florin Lehaci and Adrian Munteanu.
At the same time, three other crews that competed in the semi-finals qualified for the finals: as follows:
M2 – Florin Arteni and Florin Lehaci – 2nd place, qualification to Final A
M2X – Andrei Cornea and Marian Enache – 1st place, qualification to Final A
M1X – Mihai Chiruță – 4th place, will compete in Final B
Also on Saturday, the women’s four rowing crew (W4x), composed of Mariana Dumitru, Emanuela Ciotău, Alexandra Ungureanu and Mădălina Moroșan, finished the final of the event in 6th place.
