A drunk and drugged young man caused a road accident on the highway near Lugoj. The police found a bag of cannabis in his car – Lugoj Info

A 27-year-old man was detained by the police after causing a road accident near Lugoj on Thursday.

The police managed to catch the driver after he tried to run away. The man tested positive for both alcohol and banned substances, and a bag of cannabis was found in his car. “The police officers of the A1 Deva-Nădlac Highway Office were alerted to the fact that at the junction of the A1 and A6 road, km 458, there was a road accident resulting in material damage, the driver of the car continuing his movement on the A6 towards the municipality of Lugoj. Taking into account what was reported, the police immediately went to the scene, and following the checks they managed to stop and identify the driver of the car, namely a young man, aged 27. The young man was stopped at the exit from the A6 towards the Lugoj ring road. After testing it with the breathalyzer, a value of 0.59 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air resulted. Also, following the testing with the equipment of the young man, indications emerged regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances”, announced the representatives of IPJ Timiș who specified that the young man was taken to a hospital unit, for the collection of biological samples , in order to accurately establish the consumption of prohibited substances. At the same time, following the control inside the car driven by the young man, a bag containing plant substances likely to produce psychoactive effects was found. They were picked up and sealed, being forwarded to the Timișoara Organized Crime Brigade for further investigations. In the case, the police have drawn up a criminal case for the offenses of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcoholic beverages, driving a vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances, as well as possession of drugs for consumption. The individual was detained for a period of 24 hours and was placed in the Detention and Preventive Arrest Center in Caraș-Severin.
