Orthodox Christians celebrate the Flowers on Sunday.
On this day, people go to church and carry willow branches. The twigs are consecrated and then placed at the icons or at the door of the house so that the home is protected all year round.
In villages, willows are also planted on fruit trees to help them bear fruit.

Among the Romanians, the willow replaces the olive and palm branches with which the Savior was greeted by Christians as a true king, upon entering Jerusalem.

Almost 1,800,000 people celebrate their name day on Florii.
Most of them are women, and the most common name is Florentina. Of the more than 600,000 men celebrated, most bear the name Florin or Viorel.
