Israel’s national security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, was slightly injured in a car accident and taken to hospital on Friday, police said, adding that they were investigating the circumstances of the accident, Reuters and AFP reported.

A video broadcast by the Israeli press captures the car the minister was in as it overturned.

Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai told reporters that two other people were injured in the accident.

Ben-Gvir was leaving the scene of what police said was a knife attack in the town of Ramle, near Tel Aviv.

Central District Police Chief Avi Biton said a 21-year-old man, who was believed to be mentally unstable, stabbed a 19-year-old woman.

He announced that the suspect tried to run away from the scene, and a civilian shot and “neutralized” him, without giving any other explanations.

The Israeli Ambulance Service announced that the woman was conscious but in serious condition and was taken to hospital for treatment.
