Ana Loredana Predescu, AUR deputy and candidate for the presidency of the County Council, started collecting signatures for the petition against the construction of a biogas station in Ucea de Jos. The raw material consists of slaughterhouse residues, spoiled food, carcasses of dead animals, animal manure and spoiled vegetable remains. Right next to a meat processing plant.

“We have started collecting signatures for the Petition by which we want to block the construction of a facility that ferments 70 tons/day of spoiled meat, manure and dead animals to obtain biogas, heat and electricity. We reacted to the messages and desperate calls of the residents of Ucea Municipality, who are worried that the future biogas station will pollute the air with unbearable smells and that they will be forced to sell their houses and move out of the town.

The possibility of organizing a local referendum was circulated, an unnecessary expenditure of public money that will dry up the local budget even more. Petition is the only viable solution.

Such a station is an environmental bomb and a danger to citizens! Moreover, it also violates art. 35 of the Romanian Constitution, ECtHR jurisprudence and the Decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union C252/22.

Even if there are elections and everyone is preoccupied with lists and candidacies, the problems of the citizens do not belong to the electoral calendar because, after, it may be too late because the health of the citizens, the environment and the ecological balance are endangered. It seems shocking to me that we have to end up fighting for our health, for the environment and for clean air, but together with a law firm from the Capital, we will also fight in court for the health and comfort of the residents of Ucea. Even more shocking is the fact that an attempt was made to mislead citizens in order to obtain signatures to review the permit. I appeal to the competent authorities to respect the law because there are a number of irregularities in the company’s documents and to be respected citizens’ rights! “said Ana Loredana Predescu, deputy from Brașov.
