The fire alarm sounded today at “Academician Constantin Sibirschi” Theoretical High School

More than 800 students and almost 100 teachers from the “Academician Constantin Sibirschi” Theoretical High School in the capital were evacuated today.

We are talking about a simulation, in which the firefighters also participated. Such exercises are carried out in schools throughout the country and aim to prepare children and teachers to react promptly in case of fire.

The fire alarm sounded today at “Academician Constantin Sibirschi” Theoretical High School, so in almost four minutes, more than 800 students and almost 100 teachers were evacuated. A special vehicle also intervened shortly after, TV8 reports.

During the check of the rooms, injured people were found, so actions were also simulated to remove them safely.

After receiving medical care, the students who suffered as a result of the fire also received psychological counseling.

“Now I’m giving emotional counseling to the child who is in shock because he was pulled from the burning school by firefighters.”

High school students were also involved in the fire fighting. They said that they are periodically trained, so they knew exactly how to act in such a situation. Moreover, they were also properly equipped.

“I was the lead rescuer in our group. there are four of us in the team and we have the responsibility to save children. I found out that two children were trapped, I successfully evacuated one of them, but I could not intervene to save the other, because there was a lot of smoke. In this bag is the medical kit. I have a gauze bandage, ammonia to restore breathing in case of fainting”.

“Today, when we were assigned to be in charge of evacuation, together with other girls we were assigned to all the exits from the school. I kept the situation under control and redirected the students to where they needed to go.”

“It was a moment of responsibility. I recorded the number of students who were in the school, who were evacuated and who were not evacuated. Such an exercise is very important for our school, but also for all schools in the country, because we are talking about our safety”.

Even if the institution is not equipped with a fire-fighting system, the director claims that such exercises are done twice a year, so that the students are prepared.

“It is very important, we know the situation and we do such exercises twice a year. we are equipped with fire extinguishers, we have the evacuation plans, but we hope that in the near future we will also have the anti-fire system”.

The purpose of the exercise was to prepare students and teachers to react promptly and correctly in case of exceptional situations.

“Today we decided to make an application at this high school, just as we do throughout the country, we are talking about civil protection applications with the involvement of children in such a way that they are much more prepared, to react in an exceptional situation , possibly in a fire. Today we set out to monitor what the teaching staff is doing because they are the ones who intervene first in a risky situation until the firefighters arrive”.

Since the beginning of the year, similar exercises have been carried out in over 130 educational institutions in the country, and over 45 thousand students have been trained how to act in case of fire. Their importance was demonstrated recently, when a fire broke out at the “Liviu Deleanu” Theoretical High School in Chisinau, and over 1,900 students were evacuated.
