Romania was represented by a group of students from Cluj-Napoca at the “Conference of Young Scientists” Interdisciplinary Competition in Izmir, Turkey. The students from Cluj returned with many prizes, including gold medals.

The Interdisciplinary Competition “Conference of Young Scientists” is a competition of excellence that promotes the formation of scientific research skills, as well as the development of students’ creativity.

The 30th edition took place in Izmir from April 21-26, 2024.

Romania was represented by a group of students from Cluj-Napoca who returned home with many prizes, including gold medals.

Cluj students obtained:

  • three gold medals
  • two silver medals
  • two bronze medals
  • seven prizes in the poster section, of which three first prizes, three second prizes and one third prize

Who are the students from the Romanian batch?

The team that did honor to Romania’s colors was made up of:

  • David-Bogdan Condor, from “Nicolae Bălcescu” Theoretical High School (gold medal and first prize for posters)
  • Copaciu Bianca and Alexandra Zeicu, from “Ana Aslan” Technical College (gold medal and third prize for posters)
  • Irina Adam, from ELF Theoretical High School (silver medal)
  • Irina Todea, from “Gheorghe Şincai” National College (bronze medal and second prize for posters)
  • Balog Dorka and Vegh Ervin, from the Reformed Theological High School (bronze medal and second prize for posters)
  • Maria Cassandra Rus, from “Gheorghe Şincai” National College (silver medal and second prize for posters)
  • Tudor Ioan Pop, from “Nicolae Bălcescu” Theoretical High School (gold medal and first prize for posters)
  • Alexandru Neag and Victor Neag, from the “George Coșbuc” National College (first prize for posters).

“This edition was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Adelhaida KEREKES, deputy general school inspector at the Cluj County School Inspectorate, president of the Steering Committee of ICYS for a four-year term. He was joined in the coordination of the Romanian batch by Prof. Dr. Felicia BOAR, school inspector at ISJ Cluj, and Prof. Dr. Lavinia MUREȘAN.
The Romanian students and their coordinating teachers were inspired by their passion for research, bringing innovative ideas to the presented projects, appreciated at the highest level by the international jury. The Consulate General of Romania in Izmir sends sincere congratulations both to the students who represented our country at the 30th edition of the Conference of Young Scientists, to the coordinating teachers who accompanied them to Izmir, and to the guidance teachers from the high schools where these young people study exceptional!”, sent the representatives of the General Consulate of Romania in Izmir.
