(VIDEO) Marian Vasile, AUR candidate for Craiova City Hall: “I guarantee lower taxes to the people of Craiova from 2025!”

Marian Vasile, the AUR candidate for the Craiova City Hall in the elections of June 9, held a press conference on Wednesday in which he criticized the PSD administration and the way in which he led the city in the last 12 years.

Marian Vasile, local councilor since 2008, expelled from PNL in February 2024, told the residents of Craiova that, starting next year, they will pay lower taxes and that “without unbalancing Craiova’s budget”. “Lower fees and taxes for Craiova residents! This is what I propose to you, from 2025, if I become mayor of the municipality of Craiova. In the first three months of the mandate, we will debate the level of fees and taxes for the year 2025, and I guarantee lower taxes to the people of Craiova”, said Marian Vasile.

“The fees and taxes of the citizens of Craiova increase every year, and this only to make up for the unnecessary expenses made by the Vasilescu administration. I will reduce the level of taxes and fees and balance the budget by turning off the faucet on the unnecessary expenses made by the mayor’s office, which are many. How can we reduce taxes? Simple. We are reducing tax rates and additional rates. These rates are set by the Fiscal Code at a minimum level and a maximum level. In Craiova, many of the taxes went to the maximum rate. We will go on the minimum quota! What this means? In some cases, taxes even six times lower”, said the AUR candidate at Craiova City Hall.

Marian Vasile stated what, in his opinion, are the failures of the current mayor Olguța Vasilescu, in office since 2012, with a break of 3 years, when he was in the Government (2017 – 2020). “I, if I were in Mrs. Vasilescu’s place, and after 12 years of leading this city I didn’t even have a major project completed for Craiova that I could be proud of, I wouldn’t have the courage to come before the citizens and ask one more term.

You have to leave something behind, and that’s what I propose, to leave at least one important goal for the city. It could have been Chinatown, for example, but not even that was done. In 12 years, Craiova stagnated, not to say that it even registered a decline. A maintenance of the Romanescu Park and the Botanical Garden is not enough for what we want for Craiova”, said Vasile.

“I see billboards with all kinds of numbers around town. I’ll tell you the numbers. Over 6,000 Craiova residents leave the city every year since 2012, since Craiova has been administered by PSD. I’ll tell you the numbers: 0 major projects! You can’t brag that you built Romanescu Park, because otherwise it was called Vasilescu Park. If we change the fence, it does not mean that we have made the park. Craiova must develop, it is not enough just to manage its heritage, and not even that properly. I know exactly what I have to do!”, he concluded Marian Vasile, AUR candidate for Craiova City Hall.
