The Iași County Councilors voted, today, unanimously to grant the title of honorary citizen to the Nedea couple.
For over 40 years, they taught Biology at the “Costache Negruzzi” National College in Iași, and on weekends they prepared for free the children who came from disadvantaged backgrounds and who were going to support admission to the “Grigore T” Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy Popa” from Iasi.
The Nedea couple’s project was initiated in 1999, but the financing was realized only in 2011 with the help of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Association.
The title of “Citizen of honor”, offered today to Nedea teachers
In ten years of activity, nearly 280 students were enrolled in the Nedea’s program, over 130 of them being admitted to college.
65 graduated from the University of Medicine in Iași.
The President of the Iasi County Council, Costel Alexe, said that the example of the Nedeas can be followed by other teachers: The noble mission that the Nedea couple have, related to the unconditional support they give to all high school graduates – obviously – in order to prepare for university entrance, is a mission they have undertaken and I believe they are today the ambassadors of Iași nationally. I am convinced that their example can be followed by other teachers.
