The case represents a first for SCJU Suceava, which took over a patient from a university center, the hospital’s representatives said.
“The patient’s symptoms started at 11.30 am. Thrombolysis (administration of drugs that dissolve the blood clot) was performed at 2 p.m. at the hospital in Cluj. Because there was no significant improvement in the symptoms, it was decided to transfer the patient to the Suceava County Clinical Hospital for the extraction of the blood clot from the level of the affected cerebral vessel by the Interventional Radiology team. It is the first request of this kind received from a university center”, the representatives of SCJU Suceava sent.
According to SCJU Suceava, the patient was previously refused by 5 other Interventional Radiology centers “because of either the lack of grouts to perform the intervention, or because of the lack of staff”.
The intervention team was made up of doctors from UPU, neurologist Dr. Ana Burca, anesthesiologist Dr. Crina Tiron, interventional radiologists Dr. Cătălin Lulciuc and Dr. Mircea Gabriel, assistants.
