The best varieties from the Blisseva Partium Spirit Award brandy competition were awarded at a prestigious gala.
At the end of February, more than 700 samples of palinca were judged in Săcuieni, and on April 20, in Carei, at the Károlyi Castle, the best products in the competition were awarded. At the event, organized by the Satu Mare Rural Development Association and the Valea Ierului Pălincii Cultura Association, the best pălinca produced in households and the best commercial pălinca distillery were awarded, among others.
Deputy Lóránd Magyar, coordinator of the association from Satu Mare, said that farmers can receive an accurate assessment of product quality and are given an opportunity for development! Because in addition to low-quality foreign products, there is also a place for quality local palinka on store shelves!
Balázs Mészáros, head of the Carpathian Basin Cooperation Directorate of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture, thanked the leaders of the two organizations for their work in organizing two prestigious palinka competitions in just over a year.
Of the 703 evaluated samples, 53 were defective, and 136 had minor defects. However, 176 won bronze medals, 195 silver, and the jury awarded 143 trials with gold medals.
The best home-brewed palinka was Zoltán Krajnyák’s plum palinka, and the best distillery-brewed palinca was named Palinca Jamy. Madoniczki István was named the best palinka producer.
