He is running on behalf of AUR, a political party which, in his opinion, would be in second place in the electoral preferences of the people of Botošan.

In the worst case, Cătălin Silegeanu claims that the Alliance for the Union of Romanians from Botoșani will get a post of vice mayor.

“I am 100% sure that we will remove the deputy mayor. The goal, as I mentioned before, is to win the City Hall. This is the 1st goal. The 2nd goal is to come second in this election, regardless of who will be in the 1st place. I do not accept the 3rd place. Surely after June 10, an alliance will have to be made. It will be PSD, PNL, AUR. I am sure that those from USR, their alliance, will no longer meet the threshold, those from MRS will certainly not meet the 5% threshold either. I know there are still a few independents… the results if we compare to 2020, the independents who are participating don’t think they’ll make the cut either. Therefore, the Local Council will consist of PSD, PNL and AUR”

For this position of vice mayor but also to be part of the political majority in the municipal plenum, AUR would make an alliance with one of the parties that will have councilors.

“We will make an alliance, that’s the truth. We cannot hide from saying that we will be in the opposition for my personal goal, the party’s goal is to bring the change that the people of Botošan need, and to participate in major changes you need good people who have decision-making power. We don’t want to sit in opposition and complain that we can’t do anything because of PSD or PNL”

The political composition of the next local legislature would be formed by PSD, PNL and AUR.
