The price of cherries is again causing strife between producers and buyers. How much is a kilogram of cherries sold for in 2024?

It is no longer a secret to anyone that the price of cherries becomes a highly debated topic during this period. Every year, there are numerous discussions related to this topic. On the second day of Easter, a new scandal broke out, after a trader announced that cherries were coming for 20 lei per kilogram. This was harshly criticized and was even accused of spoiling the market, given the fact that anyway prices have dropped considerably compared to the past years when they were between 100 and 250 lei per kilogram.

Scandal of proportions among cherry traders

A producer caused a major scandal after he decided to sell the cherries at a much better price. From here to a quarrel between merchants and manufacturers was only one step. More precisely, a farmer announced on the second day of Easter that he wants to put cherries on sale in the market of Topoloveni, Argeș county, at the price of only 20 lei per kilogram, writes Adevărul.ro, quoted by Antena3.ro.

The entire discussion took place on a social media group that has nearly 50,000 members. A lot of ads and messages are posted here every day, which is why even the manufacturer’s offer could not go unnoticed. People suggested that he hold on to the price, given that cherries from other countries cost triple or maybe even more.

On the other hand, the man says that he has far too many and would have nothing to do with them.

“He is asking for at least 35 per kilo. The ones from Greece still sell for 60-70-80. Don’t make fun of yourself and your work!”, “Hold on. You definitely sell them. At least in the beginning it depends on the price. Put 30-35 lei/kilogram”, several people suggested.

Moreover, it seems that before the holidays he wanted to sell them at a higher price, but it did not go as he imagined: “I didn’t jump 40 kilos a day”the producer also said.

Buyers sent him harsh messages

There is no doubt that the buyers have also had their say. They are happy that the prices are much lower than in previous years, which is why they cannot understand why many are trying to sell the cherries for an unjustified amount, they say. They believe that it would not have to cost so much, since the effort made is not a very big one either.
