The new video generated backlash on social media platforms against the new Mumbai skipper. The users claimed that Hardik Pandya is habitual in disrespecting his seniors and connected it to the treatment of Rohit Sharma in the IPL franchise.

The fresh video came as Hardik Pandya was already facing ire over not respecting Lasith Malinga, who gave the MI skipper his seat. In the earlier video, Lasith Malinga can be seen leaving the seat for Hardik Pandya, who was preparing to enter the crease. The fans expressed displeasure on how Hardik Pandya didn’t even flinch before taking his senior’s seat.

The backlash over the new video comes as Hardik Pandya is at the receiving end of a lot of criticism after he made a return to Mumbai Indians (MI) as the new captain and replaced Rohit Sharma- who led Mumbai to the championship titles five times. The decision created chaos on social media with most MI fans not accepting the leadership change.

Hardik Pandya was booed by the crowd of Ahmedabad when he played the IPL 2024 match against his previous franchise Gujarat Titans (GT). Moreover, the fans didn’t like how he was instructing former skipper Rohit Sharma during fielding in the first match and his placement along the boundary lines.
