Today, the new Terminal T4 at the Iasi International Airport was inaugurated. The building has three levels, seven boarding gates and 20 check-in desks.
It is also the only terminal in the region equipped with three air boarding gates for passengers.
T4 has an area of more than 30 thousand square meters and can process at least 3.5 million passengers per year.
It will serve Schengen flows and domestic connections, while the T3 terminal will be for non-Schengen routes, namely the UK, Turkey and Israel.
The manager of Iași International Airport, Romeo Vatră: “Today we will inaugurate the flight from 14:00 to Bucharest and from our point of view, it is the culmination of an effort, as I said, which lasted almost 2 years, so we started from 0, in less for 2 years and here we are now talking about the operationalization of this terminal which will practically change the face of the entire airport.”
The T4 terminal is the largest in the country after the one in Otopeni.
The new parking lot of the Iași Airport has 600 spaces.
The terminal also has a photovoltaic park on an area of about one hectare and a capacity of one megawatt hour.
The project benefited from European financial support, in the total amount of one hundred million euros, stated the manager of the Iași International Airport, Romeo Vatră: “Amounting to approximately 100 million euros, 80% European funds, and we are happy that we managed to attract 100% of all the funds we accessed, so here we are at the moment, three months after we completed the works at this terminal, we are discussing the first flight where the passengers are our VIPs and we will give them the ribbon, let them be the ones to cut the inauguration ribbon.”
The first flight is scheduled for 14:00. It is about the Iași Bucharest race, operated by the TAROM race.
