The Minister of Energy made the announcement. Sebastian Burduja stated that Romania has the lowest energy price in the region.
“Today’s data show that Romania has the lowest electricity price in the region. And it is definitely an inclusive effect of investments in green energy, in renewables. You probably looked at the map and noticed that Spain and Portugal have very low prices. They have a large share of green energy and have limited interconnections with neighboring countries. They are practically insular. Of course, these interconnections are also important at the level of the European Union, we must realize them. In parallel, but through all the available funds: PNRR, the modernization fund, the contracts for differences scheme, which we can also discuss, Romania encourages and supports 5-6-7 thousand, maybe better, megawatts of green solar energy and wind Therefore, in the 2026-2028-2030 horizon, as these capacities will be put into operation, Romanians will have lower and lower bills”, declared Sebastian Burduja in a press conference.
The Minister made the clarifications in the context of the announcement about the approval in the Government of a draft emergency ordinance to amend and complete GEO 27/2022, which eliminates the solar tax for prosumers and updates the support scheme for all electricity and natural gas consumers , which will lead to lower prices for the next 12 months.
