Shocking accident in a supermarket in Bucharest. A piece of the store’s ceiling fell on a woman. The other customers ran out of the store, and the victim was rushed to the hospital. The people of the area, who often shop there, are outraged. They have seen for a long time that the ceiling swells every time it rains, but the employees didn’t care.

The accident happened in a shop on Liviu Rebreanu Street, near a large shopping center. A piece of ryegrass, nearly two meters long, detached from the false ceiling and fell over the vegetable-fruit area. A 70-year-old woman did not have time to protect herself and was hit by the falling pieces.

Ana Grigore, Observer reporter: 10 other people were inside at the time of the incident, 3 employees and 7 customers. Fortunately, they managed to self-evacuate and none of them were injured.

Witnesses came up with several hypotheses

Urgently called by witnesses, the doctors, police and firemen immediately came to the scene. The store was closed, and the engineers from the State Construction Inspectorate arrived there and started the investigation.

Witness: I always come here to shop, in this part here it rained last time, water was flowing all the time.

People were saying: it’s running down the ceiling, there’s nothing we can do. There was water on the floor, not a drop. 2-3 days ago when it rained, and it was flowing here and on the other side. I think that’s why he fell.

Witness: This complex used to be a restaurant. Changed some things, the ceiling, this is not a renovation, it’s a rag.

The pensioner arrived at the hospital with minor injuries

The pensioner who was unlucky enough to be hit by the collapsing ceiling arrived at the hospital.

Ana Grigore, Observer reporter: The woman was brought to the Pantelimon hospital with a minor head injury and shoulder injuries. The doctors have investigated her and, most likely, she will be discharged soon.
