The New York Yankees will open the regular season at Minute Maid Park on Thursday when they face the Houston Astros.
Game time is set for 4:10 pm eastern.
The New York Yankees are coming off the ending part of their spring training with a couple of exhibition games in Mexico. Players who didn’t make that trip and made the 26-man roster will meet up with the Yankees after breaking camp in Tampa, Fla.
The Yankees are coming off their worst season since 2016, when they won 84 games and failed to make the playoffs. Last season the Yankees were actually a bit worse than that team, as they went 82-80.
The Yankees’ biggest moves were via trade, as they acquired outfielder Juan Soto by trade from the San Diego Padres, while also dealing for outfielders Alex Verdugo and Trent Grisham.
The Yankees will be without reigning Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole, who has been shut down for several weeks after he was diagnosed with an elbow injury.
In his place, Nestor Cortes will start Opening Day.
