ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan called for an urgent meeting on Wednesday (today) to address security concerns after a terror attack in Shangla, as China urged Pakistan to take strict action against those responsible.

The attack occurred when a suicide bomber targeted a convoy transporting Chinese engineers and a local driver near Dasu, resulting in fatalities.

The Chinese embassy swiftly condemned the attack and pledged cooperation with Pakistani authorities to manage the aftermath. They urged Islamabad to conduct a thorough investigation and punish the culprits severely.

Prime Minister Sharif personally assured Chinese officials of enhanced security measures and a comprehensive inquiry into the incident, emphasizing the significance of preserving the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and China, particularly in the context of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Meanwhile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) underlined the orchestrated nature of recent attacks in Gwadar and Turbat, alleging foreign involvement aimed at destabilizing Pakistan.

The ISPR emphasized the importance of safeguarding strategic projects vital for Pakistan’s progress and bilateral partnerships, highlighting the determination to overcome challenges through resilience and cooperation with allies like China.
