After the announcement that it is putting an end to the Apple car project, the American company revealed that it will focus on other areas. First of all, it is a joint venture with IQOS, which will consist of installing a Heets plug on the next iPhone.
“It is illogical to have two electronic devices, one for communication and another for smoking. It makes a lot more sense to have an iPhone with a Heets plug, because you always have it in your hand anyway. You’re just taking a puff of Heets every now and then,” says Apple CEO Tim Cook. He congratulated the employee who had the idea and says that the industry needs people with this kind of ideas, willing to innovate, employees sought by many companies, including from Romania.
But smokers fear that the cigarette plug on the iPhone will be different from all other devices, as they did with the charger, and Apple’s cigarettes will be sold at a much higher price in order to make a profit. It’s also unclear where the Heets plugs will be repaired, or if replacement parts will arrive quickly enough.
Many users are unhappy with Apple’s idea. “The heets plug will consume the battery unnecessarily. What will iPhone buyers do who don’t smoke, or who smoke classic cigarettes?”, asks Marian, an iPhone owner. However, it is possible that the new cigarette plug model will be sold separately from the normal model, of course at a much higher price.
