In recent months, we have witnessed numerous leaks that revealed key details about the iPhone 16 series. Today, a new portion of confidential information brings to the fore the physical appearance of all the models in this line, through mockups.
The images come from the well-known Apple whistleblower Sonny Dickson, who managed to present mockups for the entire iPhone 16 series in the past. Therefore, there is a high probability that these images reflect the reality of the upcoming iPhone model range.
The most notable change is the layout of the cameras for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. These models will abandon the diagonal arrangement of the cameras of their predecessors in favor of a vertical configuration. On the other hand, the Pro models will not undergo significant changes in terms of design.
Shooting space videos, the reason for the switch to vertical cameras
The switch to a vertical camera configuration on standard iPhone models is intended to allow the recording of space videos, which can be played back in 3D on the upcoming Apple Vision Pro device.
Another remarkable change can be found in the screen sizes of the Pro models. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with a 6.9-inch screen, compared to 6.7 inches for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, making it the largest Pro Max model ever released.
Also, the iPhone 16 Pro will have a slightly larger screen, 6.3 inches, compared to 6.1 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro. Instead, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will keep their screen sizes at 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively.
Waiting for new information leaks in anticipation of the September release
Apart from these changes, the mockups don’t offer many hints about the new design features. Even if the rumors suggest the existence of a dedicated button for controlling the camera, it is not visible on the replicas analyzed.
As usual, we expect the new iPhone models to be launched in September. Although there is still a long interval until then, it is likely that in this period we will have new leaks of information that will complete the picture about the new features of the iPhone 16 series.
