If in the last days of March we were wondering why the update to One UI 6.1 keeps getting delayed, well here we have the answer. The Samsung team was still trying to fix various bugs that threatened to spoil the user experience. But as the deadline imposed by the company’s management was about to be exceeded, the long-awaited updates were given the green light, with or without problems remaining to be fixed.

Indications that the One UI 6.1 firmware was not tested well enough on devices prior to the S24 series have surfaced since the early days, with some owners of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 phones noticing that their battery charging speed has slowed down considerably. The issue only occurs with certain combinations of AC adapters and USB-C cables, a sign that Samsung’s technicians haven’t fully tested the new firmware.

Coming back to the issue with the fingerprint sensor, it seems that in some situations pressing the Power button or double-tapping the screen is not followed by the animation showing the location of the fingerprint sensor. Even if you try to unlock the screen by placing your finger over the fingerprint sensor, nothing happens, indicating that the phone did not detect any of your attempts. Other times, the suggestive animation appears and disappears almost instantly without the fingerprint sensor being activated.

Reported on Galaxy S23 phones, the randomly occurring issue is a source of frustration for users who never know what to expect. And if you want to unlock the phone and nothing happens, just try activating the screen again until you succeed.

At the moment, Samsung does not have an official answer for the reported problems, but probably the expected fix also in the way of firmware updates will not be too late. Looking at the full side of the glass, One UI 6.1 really is a major update for Galaxy S23 owners and not only, the new firmware brings both completely new features and a noticeable improvement in the performance felt during the daily use of the phone. So sneaking in a few bugs isn’t really that big of a price, especially if they’re fixed in time.
