The champion CSM Bucharest was also defeated on Saturday, away, by the Metz Handball team, score 29-23 (15-14), in the return leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League. CSM misses qualifying for the Final Four Tournament, where they last played in 2018, reports News.ro.
The main scorers of the game were Grijseels 7 goals, Burgaard 6, Valentini 6, for Metz, respectively Neagu 6, for CSM.
In the first leg, in Bucharest, Metz prevailed 27-24, and with a double win they qualify for the F4 Tournament in Budapest, from June 1-2.
CSM Bucharest qualified for the quarterfinals, after the double with Krim Ljubljana in the play-off phase (30-24, 30-24).
Previously, the Romanian champion finished in 4th place in group A, missing the direct qualification in the quarters, following the results: 28-24 and 25-29 with Odense, 24-26 and 31-28 with SG BBM Bietigheim, 23-27 and 26 -24 with Gyor, 41-26 and 35-26 with IK Savehof, 28-30 and 21-24 with Brest, 29-24 and 44-26 with Buducnost, 29-29 and 30-23 with DVSC Debrecen.
In the quarter-finals, the matches between FTC Budapesta – Team Esbjerg (25-26 in the round), Vipers – Gyor (23-30) and SG BBM Bietigheim – Odense (30-26) are also played.
The trophy holder is Vipers Kristiansand.
