Ban on transfers! FIFA has sanctioned a third Ligue 1 team in the space of a month
The problems lie with Petrolul Ploiești. After the 2-1 defeat at home against FC Botoșani, a result that threw them into relegation, the “yellow wolves” also received the news that they will not have the right to make transfers in the upcoming mercato window.
The reason? Prahoven did not pay an installment of 50,000 euros for the transfer of Albin Berisha from Ballkani.
GSP.ro claims that those in the management of Petrol would have known that they were going to receive this ban, but they did not rush to pay the debt because the transfer window opens only in a few weeks, and the penalty will be lifted as soon as it is paid the amount to the Kosovar club.
Berisha was transferred in February for €230,000.
Petrol are the third Ligue 1 team to be sanctioned by FIFA in the space of a month. FC Hermannstadt and UTA Arad were also punished by the international forum due to unpaid debts, but the disputes have since been settled.
