Jaqueline Cristian, spectacular victory in Madrid against a Grand Slam champion
Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian qualified for the third round of the €7,679,965 WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid on Friday after a spectacular victory over Czech Barbora Krejcikova 2-6, 6- 0.6-2.

Jaqueline Cristian (25 years old, 73 WTA), coming from the qualifications, prevailed against the 2021 Roland Garros champion after two hours and 6 minutes of play.
Krejcikova (28 years old, 27 WTA) dominated the first set, won 6-2, but then the Romanian made a perfect second set, winning to zero, although her opponent still offered her a pretty good reply.
Jaqueline Cristian continued her excellent evolution in the decisive set, won 6-2, after five consecutive matches.
Their only previous match was won by Krejcikova, 6-1, 7-5, in January 2022 in the round of 16 in Sydney.
The Romanian secured a check for 51,665 euros and 95 WTA points, and in the third round she will face the winner between the American Danielle Collins and the Serbian Olga Danilovic.
