UPDATE 11:40 Zelensky invited Ukrainians, on the occasion of Orthodox Easter, to unite in prayer for the soldiers on the front line

“Let’s pray for each other. When we all come closer to each other, we are no longer strangers to each other,” says Zelenskiy, dressed in a traditional Ukrainian shirt – vysyvanka – and military-style trousers in a video posted on the Telegram messaging application, cited by Reuters.

Standing in front of the 1,000-year-old St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev, a spiritual and architectural monument of the country’s faith, Zelensky said that Ukraine has been fighting Russia for victory for 802 days.

“And we believe: God has a sign (chevron) with the Ukrainian flag on his shoulder. So, with such an ally, life will surely defeat death,” declared the president of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky, who is of Jewish origin, called on Ukrainians to pray first for all the soldiers who will celebrate Easter in the trenches, that they return home alive, and for the land and people, whose spirit “cannot be defeated” and who, he added, will see Ukraine free one day.

“Ukrainians only kneel in prayer,” Zelensky said. “And never in front of the invaders and the occupiers,” he added.

Zelensky said Russia used eight missiles of various types and nearly 70 aerial guided bombs against towns and frontline positions on Saturday.

Russia is an existential threat to the European Union.

It is the alarm signal of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell. The official drew attention to the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin represents a major risk to the stability and security of the region.

“Putin sees the entire West as an adversary. He has made this clear in many of his speeches. Everywhere, every day on Russian television stations this is repeated: ‘The West, all the West, the globalist West is our enemy,'” Borrell said.
