He emphasized that he will not withdraw from the race for PMB, although Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu suggested this to him and publicly conveyed that he is waiting for him to join the PSD team, but as the mayor of sector 5. “I said it and I repeat it and this is the last time i say it. I’m not backing down and I’m going all the way,” Piedone said.
Libertatea wrote that the PSD is trying by all means to make Cristian Popescu Piedone withdraw from the race for the Mayor of Bucharest, being negotiations both in terms of the distribution of functions at the local level, but also for the autumn, in the parliamentary elections.
Cristian Popescu Piedone submitted his candidacy to the Capital City Hall on April 19 and claimed that he would win the elections with 42%, as a representative of PUSL, but at that time it was not known that PSD and PNL would withdraw Cătălin Cîrstoiu and go with separate candidates.
