The PSD requests the USR leadership to apply the standards of integrity in politics that they invoke in the case of others and immediately exclude Clotilde Armand from the party. “After being sent to court, the mayor of Sector 1, Clotilde Armand, meets all the attributes of a criminal in public office: she has a criminal record, she was investigated, she is accused and was referred to the Justice, she will be tried for the crime of having used the public office for to favor himself”, according to the press release of the social democrats, News.ro reports.
The cited source also says that more than that, Clotilde Armand behaves like a genuine “criminal” when she attacks without any restraint the magistrates who made decisions against her and when she denigrates the fundamental institutions of the rule of law.
“According to the principles invoked over time by the USR, regardless of the decision the court will make, the defendant Clotilde Armand must be suspended from the position of mayor of Sector 1, for the entire duration of the criminal trial, so as not to affect the institution’s image which it represents”, the PSD document also specifies.
“This time, the USR leadership has no excuse not to expel the “criminal” Clotilde Armand from the party. At the same time, the party leadership must denounce the candidacy of the defendant, who is trying to obtain a new mandate under the USR logo. If they do not do these things, those in the leadership of the USR become moral accomplices in the criminal acts of the party colleague and definitively lose their right to ask others to respect the principles of integrity that they themselves are trampling on”, concludes the mentioned source.
The prosecutors decided, on Thursday, to send to court the mayor of Sector 1, Clotilde Armand, whom they accuse of “using the position to favor some people”. She designated herself as the manager of a project and signed four provisions by which she appropriated 18,720 lei.
Armand said that it is “an embarrassing case, opened at the complaint of Dan Tudorache, with ridiculous accusations, in which they invented a damage of 3,000 euros”.
“A few hours ago I announced my candidacy for a new mandate at the District 1 City Hall and submitted my candidacy to the Electoral Office. I told Ciolacu that the United Right Alliance was going to send him back to his pretzel. 2 hours later, I found out on TV that I was sent to court because I implemented an anti-corruption program in the local administration,” Clotilde Armand wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
