Ciolacu invites Piedone to negotiate his retirement: “I am calling on a friend of mine, known for over 30 years”

The PSD leader, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, made an appeal on Tuesday to Cristian Popescu Piedone, the current mayor of Sector 5 and a candidate for the Capital City Hall, and asked him to give up his arrogance and sit down at the table of discussions to do “what is the best for Bucharest”.

“I will allow myself, through you, to call another friend of mine, a friend of my brother’s, an acquaintance of over 30 years, Cristian Popescu Piedone. I think that in life we ​​have to settle at the table, let’s not be arrogant and succeed, as this team succeeded in Sector 2, to build what is best for Bucharest. The experience, the determination, the professionalism that Gabriela Firea showed when she was the general mayor of the capital confirms the fact that she is the best candidate at the moment for the seat of general mayor. I am firmly convinced that Mr. Piedone will receive my message and together we will overcome the arrogance and move to a way in which we must build”, said Marcel Ciolacu, at the launch event of Rareş Hopincă’s candidacy for the position of mayor of Sector 2 from the PSD – PNL side.

The leader of the social democrats reiterated that Popescu Piedone is a very good mayor for Sector 5.

Marcel Ciolacu assured the PSD and PNL members present in the hall that the electoral alliance between the two parties, as well as the governing coalition, are “stronger than ever”.

“I made a decision together with Mr. Nicolae Ciucă after 14 hours, both having a feeling that I have not had before, especially since they are part of the largest party in Romania. We are talking about the two largest parties in Romania, PSD and PNL, we had reached a position of referees. We, usually the two parties, were the main players in each match. We had reached discussions on who should be the general mayor, if it is better to be Mr. Nicusor Dan, or rather Mr. Piedone, something inadmissible for the two parties and for our quality as party presidents. So we neither fought nor argued in the coalition and found the solution to spoil this game in two”. stated the prime minister, according to Agerpres.

The PSD-PNL alliance decided to withdraw the doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu from the race for the Capital City Hall. Thus, Gabriela Firea will run for the social democrats, and Sebastian Burduja will fight for the votes of the liberals.

Cristian Popescu Piedone rejected the idea of ​​withdrawing from the race, and the fear of the social democrats is that part of the PSD electorate will vote with Piedone.
