Klaus Iohannis will host on Wednesday, in Cotroceni, together with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, a working meeting dedicated to the preparation of the future Strategic Agenda of the EU, with the participation of the Prime Ministers of Hungary, Belgium and Croatia, Viktor Orban, Alexander De Croo and Andrej Plenković.
“The consultations organized in Bucharest are part of a wider process of defining the priorities of the European Union for the period 2024-2029, started on the occasion of the informal meeting of the European Council in Granada, on October 6, 2023, when the debates of the leaders of the EU member states revealed the interest in placing, in the foreground of the European agenda, aspects regarding security and defense, global involvement and expansion of the Union, respectively strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the Union”, according to a press release.
The Presidential Administration conveys that, based on the coordinates established in Granada, the discussions at the meeting at the Cotroceni Palace “will represent an opportunity to deepen these elements and to analyze the lines of action at the level of the European Union in order to achieve the common objectives of strengthening the profile Union at the international level, to ensure prosperity and to promote and protect democracy and European values”.
“Discussions on the preparation of the Strategic Agenda for the next institutional cycle will continue at the level of EU leaders, with the objective of being adopted by the European Council at the meeting scheduled at the end of June this year”, it is mentioned at the end of the communique.
