Why the millionaire from Ploiesti committed suicide. His daughter clarified the mystery of Doru Morcovescu’s death

Millionaire Doru Morcovescu, a powerful businessman from Prahova county, was found dead, Thursday afternoon, in a room of the hotel he owned in Ploiesti.

Doru Morcovescu, 60 years old, a well-known businessman, owner of several hotels in Ploiesti and Slănic Prahova, with a fortune estimated at approximately 140 million euros, committed suicide on Thursday. His body was found in the bathroom of his hotel apartment by an employee of the facility.

Sources close to the family say that he had no debts and lived a quiet life with his wife and two children.

Moreover, they had plans for a New Year’s Eve party, especially since events were organized in all the locations that the millionaire owned.

Doru Morcovescu did not leave any message to those close to him to explain his extreme gesture. However, his daughter, Alexandra, posted a message on social media saying that her father was suffering from depression, while calling on the media to treat her family’s tragedy with decency.

“My father did NOT commit suicide because of debt, so for the sake of fairness I am asking all journalists who have speculated about this to correct the story. In reality, my father was a brave man who, in 30 years of activity in the field of HORECA, never gave up, instead he fought and built a business that will bear his mark for many years to come. And there were quite a few difficult situations, taking into account the economic state of the country in which we live. I would like it to be very clearly understood that my father had been suffering from depression for several years, caused by other illnesses, and this was the moment of weakness which, unfortunately for our family, led to this great loss.” wrote Alexandra Morcovescu.

The young woman wanted to assure all customers who purchased packages for New Year’s Eve in the locations owned by her family that the parties will take place according to the established schedule, and the company’s activity will continue without disruption even after January 1, 2023.

In the case, the police officers of the Office for Combating Crimes Against the Person and Property have drawn up a criminal file under the aspect of committing the crime of manslaughter, the investigations being continued in order to establish the causes of the incident.
