From the images provided by the surveillance cameras located in the area, it can be seen that the 25-year-old man had a very high speed when he ran into the light pole on the sidewalk. Some witnesses claim that the odometer needle got stuck at 180 kilometers per hour.
In the images, you can see how the car’s engine catches fire and flies a few meters from the impact site.
The driver lived in Cluj-Napoca and graduated from the Law Faculty of Babeș-Bolyai University. He was behind the wheel of a BMW, which was almost cut off by the pillar on the pavement.

Police are continuing their investigation
At around 06:00, on Motilor Street in Cluj-Napoca, a traffic incident resulted in the death of the driver, a 25-year-old man from Cluj-Napoca, the Cluj police reported.
“Investigations are continuing to establish all the circumstances in which the unfortunate event took place”reported the Cluj Police.
Driver found dead
Firefighters from Detachment 2 Cluj-Napoca reported that they intervened on the morning of Sunday, September 25, at a serious road accident on Calea Motilor in Cluj-Napoca. The emergency call came at 6:18 a.m., and two ambulances and a SMURD mobile intensive care team went to the scene.
Later, a rescue vehicle from Detachment 1 also came in support. When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a heavily damaged car. Inside was an incarcerated man with non-life threatening injuries. As a result, resuscitation maneuvers could no longer be applied. More precisely, it was about a 25-year-old young man.
