Old man from Teleorman, smashed on the pedestrian crossing by a 32-year-old driver. The speedster was detected positive in the anti-drug control

The police officers of the Teleorman Road Service have drawn up a criminal case for the crimes of culpable homicide and driving a vehicle under the influence of substances likely to have psychoactive effects, in the case of a road accident that occurred today, around 6:30 p.m., within the radius of the commune peonies

Due to causes and circumstances to be determined from the investigations, while a 32-year-old man, from Rosiori de Vede, was driving a car on DE 70, he hit a pedestrian, an 82-year-old man, from Bujoreni commune, legally employed in crossing DE 70, on the pedestrian crossing marked and signposted accordingly.

Following the road accident, the death of the pedestrian was recorded, informs the local daily Teleormanul.

The driver was tested with the alcohol test device, the result being negative, but the result of the test with the DrugTest device showed indications regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances, which is why he was taken to a medical unit in order to collect biological samples necessary for the establishment with accuracy of the consumption of psychoactive substances.

A criminal case was drawn up in the case, the investigations being continued in order to accurately establish all the circumstances that led to the accident, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.

It should be specified that, in the presented case, the preliminary results provided by the DrugTest devices do not represent evidence in the criminal case and that they only indicate the reasonable suspicion that the tested person has consumed psychoactive substances. The person is taken to a medical facility in order to collect the biological blood samples necessary to accurately determine the consumption of prohibited substances. Also, conducting the criminal investigation is a stage of the criminal process regulated by the Code of Criminal Procedure, an activity that cannot, in any situation, violate the principle of the presumption of innocence.
