One of the five belts being developed in the metropolitan area of Oradea is almost ready. Traffic on the bypass road of Sântandrei would start on May 20, according to an announcement made on Thursday by the president of the Bihor County Council, Ilie Bolojan.
“These days, the last works are being done on the belt that will bypass the town of Sântandrei. The wear layer is poured on the side accesses, the embankment is compacted, and tomorrow the last portion of asphalt will be poured in the end from Palota”, wrote, on his official Facebook account, the head CJ Bihor.
According to him, “from tomorrow (no – Friday, May 10) markings will also be made, all other works being done. By the end of next week, the belt will be ready to open.”
“We propose that from Monday, May 20, it will be open to traffic. The Sântandra belt will be the first of the 5 belts in the metropolitan area of Oradea to be opened to traffic”, Bolojan said.
Initially, the president of the CJ had stated May 15 as the deadline for putting the new road into use.

The belt of Sântandra stretches for 5 kilometers. As the Bihor he also wrote, its route starts from the entrance to this locality from Palota to the entrance to Oradea at the intersection with Bujac street. On one section, the new connecting road between Sântandrei and Oradea, which will also be useful to the residents of Tărian, Girișu de Criș and Toboliu communes, is parallel to the DX 16 express road, which connects the city belt with the Transilvania Highway.
The investment was financed from European funds through a project that also aims to build other bypass roads: the Oșorhei belt (5.8 km), plus the rehabilitation of the county road DJ 767E Oșorhei – Copăcel (12.7 km), the Nojorid belt (8.4 km) and the Biharia belt (8.7 km). Also, through another European project, the 5.75 km Sânmartin belt is being developed.
