--

The program includes 4 performances-incursion between May 10-14. The closing event takes place at the Romanian Athenaeum, with the extraordinary participation of the actress Alexandrina Halic.

The one of7th edition A Hoinar Festival starts tomorrow and will meet in Bucharest, during May 10 – 14, 15 artists of international caliber that will support 4 performances-incursionon the stages ACT Theatre and Romanian Athenaeum.

The national premiere of a lied recital with a dramaturgical script, childhood stories set to piano music, adaptations of classical works and debates with special guests, make up the program of this year’s edition, whose central theme is the very concept of Carnivalthe name of the chamber concert that closes the festival on Tuesday, May 14at Romanian Athenaeum.

“This year we managed to bring together musical works that we had in mind for a long time. Some of them premiered in Romania (Songs of the Clown), others perhaps too poorly interpreted (The human voice). As I put the puzzle pieces together, I glimpsed the so-called musical breakthrough: Carnival of the Animals. And so is the umbrella concept: we have clowns, we have fairy tales, we have masks and stories. How can we call it otherwise?”stated Daria Tudorthe coordinator of the Festival.

Carnival proposes an ambitious concert-experience, which reunites on stage 11 musicians and an actress, centering on a parade of very varied characters, each with a specific story and message for the public. The performance describes an arc between youth and old age, built on the rhythms of his sonatas Brahmsof music for two pianos composed by Saint-Saënsbut also of one of the most famous works signed by him, an emblem of the classical repertoire – Carnival of animals. The experience will be completed by illustrative texts by authors such as Ion Pillat, Mihai Eminescu or George Topârceanu, interpreted by the legendary actress Alexandrina Halic.

Alexandra Halic has been on the stage of the Romanian theater for more than 62 years, performing all this time the most varied roles – from The Glass Man in Cold heart by Wilhelm Hauff to the legendary versions of the immortal Pinocchio, which he built both on Romanian stages and on tours in Italy, Japan and Greece. Alexandrina Halic acted under the guidance of directors such as Radu Apostol, Ion Cojar or Cornel Todea and signed numerous appearances in the performances of the National Radiophonic Theatre. Alexandrina Halic’s unmistakable voice has become a landmark of Romanian radio over the years, through shows like “Good night kids” or “Evening Story”. His activity has been recognized by awards such as the UNITER Award for his entire activity and the National Order “Faithful Service” in Knighthood.

The other events in the program all take place on stage ACT Theatre and paints a complete and complex picture of Hoinar’s objectives: a lied recital, framed by readings and video projections – Songs of the Clown (May 10, 7:30 p.m.), a show dedicated to children aged between 6 and 12 years – There was once a piano (May 11, 11:00 a.m.) and a musical-dramatic adaptation of the play The human voicewritten by Jean Cocteau, followed by a debate with special guests (May 12, 7:30 p.m.).

The mission of edition number 7 does not end with the event on May 14, but also includes a series of performances of the show There was once a pianoin 3 schools in the capital, on the days of 16 and May 17. Each performance will be followed by an open dialogue between the children, their teachers and the artists about the perception of the concert and how emotions and stories can be expressed through classical music.

“Hoinar has been an educational project from the beginning. And at this edition, through the partnerships with 3 Bucharest schools, we manage to enter the classroom, reach our target group, the children, and reveal to them a little of the wonderful treasure of music. I’m excited that we’re bringing a grand piano to a school where some kids have never seen a real piano. The show aims to introduce little ones to great music through the stories it describes – the child watches the projection with text and image, while listening to live piano music, delivered by the hands of three performing pianists with careers in full swing. Music enhances emotion like a soundtrack does in a movie. We need this kind of living musical education, adapted to the circumstances of modernity. In the day when children are more and more drawn to screens, especially mobile phone screens, we need to update the way we do arts education, and we offer them an experience that draws them to music more than a concert conventional, where they are seated in a chair and made to listen to a symphony.”, stated Florian Mitreathe founder Hoinar Festival.

Already in its 7th edition, the festival continues to propose an innovative approach to classical music, bypassing the rigid labels and its abstract nature that make it less accessible to the public than other art forms such as theater or cinema. It also maintains its constant mission to emphasize the importance of the piano, with this year’s edition bringing to the fore a novel approach to it.

Founded in 2016 by the pianist of Romanian origin Florian Mitrea and organized by Romanian Music Center Foundationthe Hoinar Festival brings together both an educational component and a festival component of concerts, recitals and shows unique in Romania, aiming to bring to light not only a special classical music repertoire, in original interpretations, but also some of the most promising Romanian artists with international careers, who deserve to be discovered by the Romanian public.

Hoinar Festival is organized by the Romanian Music Center Foundation, in co-production with the ACT Theater and the “George Enescu” Philharmonic.
